BYLLIS | EU for economic development – Tourism local economic development with a focus on cultural heritage

Project in progress

The project is aimed at supporting the economic development of the Mallakaster area (in the Fier region, Albania) through the valorisation of the archaeological site of Byllis as a key resource for the tourist attractiveness of the area.
The initiative, financed by European funds from the Instrument for Pre-Accession managed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation according to the delegated cooperation mechanism, involves the Emilia-Romagna Region ART-ER and the University of Bologna as implementers.
ART-ER's intervention, specifically, focuses on promoting forms of inclusive, endogenous economic development that are attentive to social dynamics in the Mallakaster area.

Project planned activities concern the involvement of local communities in mapping the territory's resources and managing its tourism development, and the technical assistance to local authorities on territorial branding and implementation of promotional events."
